Back in 2012 husband-and-wife team Kristian Tapaninaho and Darina Garland, who were frustrated with their inability to create restaurant-quality pizza at home, revolutionized at-home pizza making by offering a range of compact and portable ovens that can reach extremely high temperatures, often exceeding 500∘ C. 

This is crucial for cooking Neapolitan-style pizza in just 60 seconds, which would be impossible in a conventional kitchen oven. The ovens come in various models, catering to different preferences for fuel type.

The Koda series, for instance, runs on gas, providing convenience and precise temperature control. For those who crave an authentic wood-fired flavour, the Fyra models use wood pellets, while the versatile Karu ovens are multi-fuel, allowing users to choose between wood, charcoal, or gas with an optional burner.

Ooni has also expanded into the indoor market with the electric Volt oven. Designed in Scotland and made with a durable stainless steel construction and a ceramic stone, Ooni ovens have become a popular choice for anyone looking to create restaurant-quality pizza in their own backyard.
